The quality of a soft pet playpen quote depends less on how detailed the reference photo looks and more on how clearly the buyer and manufacturer define the hidden connections between structure, sewn panels, openings and care requirements.

What Should a Custom Soft Pet Playpen Brief Include?
A factory-side guide for private-label brands, importers, wholesalers and e-commerce sellers preparing a soft pet enclosure project.

Author: ZRC Product Development Team — individual reviewer name to be confirmed before publication
A custom soft pet playpen brief should define the structure, dimensions, mesh layout, openings, floor construction, branding and pack-out. A reference photo rarely confirms all these points.
ZRC uses the brief to identify open decisions before sampling. This gives the buyer a clearer basis for reviewing the sample and requesting a final quotation.
Why is a reference photo not enough for a soft pet playpen quote?
A reference photo shows shape and visual direction. It may not show the frame layout, panel pattern, zipper path, floor attachment or folded configuration.
Each hidden detail can change another component. For example, a relocated door can require a new fabric panel pattern. A removable floor can require a different attachment and care plan.
The buyer should label unknown items as CUSTOMIZED or OPEN FOR DISCUSSION. That is more useful than allowing the supplier to assume a specification.
Which structural details should buyers define first?
Start with the requested outside dimensions, intended animal category, frame format and panel arrangement. Do not claim a weight capacity until the final structure and verification method are agreed.
<table> <thead><tr><th>Decision</th><th>Buyer should provide</th><th>ZRC discussion</th></tr></thead> <tbody> <tr><td>Dimensions</td><td>Requested length, width and height</td><td>Pattern and frame implications</td></tr> <tr><td>Frame</td><td>Reference format or open requirement</td><td>Layout, folding and panel fit</td></tr> <tr><td>Openings</td><td>Number and preferred positions</td><td>Access, zipper path and sewing</td></tr> <tr><td>Floor</td><td>Fixed, removable or open</td><td>Attachment, cleaning and storage</td></tr> </tbody> </table>

Why should mesh, doors and zippers be reviewed as one system?
Mesh, doors and zippers share the same sewn panels. A change to one element can affect panel tension, access and edge construction.
The sample review should therefore examine the complete area. Buyers can mark the requested door position, opening direction and mesh coverage on one annotated drawing.
ZRC can then discuss whether the requested layout creates another question that must be resolved before approval. This is an engineering conversation, not a promise of a particular performance level.
How should cleaning requirements affect the product brief?
Cleaning should be planned before the floor construction is frozen. Buyers should state whether the floor must be removable and how the care information will be presented.
ISO 3758:2023 establishes care-labelling symbols for textile articles. Its scope and local application should be checked for the specific product and market. ZRC can discuss care-label placement after the buyer confirms the required instructions.

What information affects branding and pack-out?
“Add our logo” does not define a branding specification. The buyer should supply the artwork, requested dimensions, position, method and color reference.
Pack-out also needs a written list. It should state which product components, instructions, labels and requested accessories belong in the package.
For products sold in the EU, the General Product Safety Regulation includes provisions concerning product identification, manufacturer information, warnings and instructions. Buyers should obtain compliance advice for their product and target market.
Case story: when a buyer’s picture leaves the floor undefined
An anonymized project scenario starts with a blue rectangular playpen reference. The buyer identifies the approximate size and logo area. The picture does not explain whether the floor is fixed or removable.
ZRC does not treat the missing detail as approval. We add the floor construction to the open-question list. We also ask how the product should be cleaned and stored.
That discussion may reveal two different directions. A fixed floor may simplify one part of the construction. A removable floor may support a different cleaning routine. The buyer must decide which direction fits the channel and customer expectation.
The sample can then be reviewed against a written decision. The result still needs physical confirmation, but the buyer no longer has to evaluate an assumption that appeared only after the sample arrived.
This is an illustrative, anonymized project scenario based on ZRC’s documented development process. It is not a claim about a named customer or commercial result.
What should buyers send ZRC for the first discussion?
Send a reference image, requested dimensions, target market, sales channel, proposed quantity and customization priorities. Mark unresolved questions clearly.
ZRC will use that information to identify the next decisions for discussion. To start, use the verified ZRC contact page or email info@zrcpet.com.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can ZRC quote from only a reference image?
A reference image can start the discussion. A final quotation requires the applicable structure, materials, dimensions, customization and pack-out to be clarified.
Can the size, color and logo be customized?
ZRC discusses requested customization by project. Send the proposed variations and order split so the applicable conditions can be reviewed.
What should be checked on the sample?
Check dimensions, frame and panel fit, openings, zipper direction, floor construction, artwork placement, labels and all listed components.
Conclusion
A clear soft pet playpen brief connects appearance with production decisions. It gives both buyer and manufacturer a shared list for sample review.
